That's why Marian Maternal and Newborn Center has developed a family maternity program designed specifically for the needs of expectant parents.

At Marian, we've been delivering babies for more than 70 years. We're a highly experienced team of nurses and physicians who provide personalized, quality, and compassionate care in an emotionally supported family-centered environment.

 Our Birth Center offerings include:

  • childbirth education classes
  • An environment that allows a mother to make choices about her care and that of her newborn
  • Private birthing suites
  • Neonatologist, Obstetricians, Pediatricians, and Perinatologist on staff
  • New technology, allowing staff and physicians to respond quickly to any special care needs of mother and baby
  • Comfort Management options
  • Breastfeeding specialist
  • A physician-ordered home visit by a registered nurse following a baby's birth
  • Nurture Line for breast feeding help and education at (805) 739-3388.
  • State-of-the-art 8-bed Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

  • Refresher Childbirth Series
  • Infant Care and Breastfeeding Series*
  • Cesarean Birth Preparation and Prevention Class*
  • Big Brother and Sister Sibling Class
  • "Baby Safe" Infant Safety
  • Serie Lamaze en Espanol
  • Cuidado de su Bebe en Espanol
  • Preparacion Cesarea en Espanol

    (*) indicates that the class is available in a series or individually

It is best to register for Maternal and Newborn Education Classes 4-5 months before your due date, and complete classes 4 weeks before your due date if possible.

Class workbook cost is $10.00. Purchase at your first class; needed for all classes.

For Refresher and Lamaze classes, please arrive ten minutes before class start time and bring the following items:

  • Two pillows
  • Heavy blanket
  • Watch with second hand
  • Water bottle
