Special expertise in breast cancer surgery is available, including less invasive breast biopsy techniques and availability of stereotactic breast biopsy, lumpectomy and/or mastectomy with sentinel node biopsy and breast conservation procedures.
Surgery at Marian Regional Medical Center has never been safer. According to national protocols, Marian carefully monitors its rate of wound infection and currently reports a one-percent rate for surgical site infection in contrast to a national wound infection ratio of four percent, Levels I and II. This means that Marian Regional Medical Center has a very low rate of wound infection and measures at one-fourth of the national average.
According to data collected by the National Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (NNIS) organization, Marian’s infection rates remain significantly better than the national average.
