Santa Maria

Bereavement Home Visits: Call & schedule with a Bereavement Counselor. 739-3830

Individual counseling: Counseling is provided, to assist the bereaved with problem solving, resourcing and with appropriate referrals if needed. Please call Bereavement Care 739-3830

Healing Grief Class – A four- week grief support class for the newly bereaved, Call Marian Hospice at 739-3830 x1136 to register for February 8, 15, 22 & 29. .

Living with Loss: New beginnings for those whose grief is no longer fresh & raw, and whose issues may differ from those who are newly bereaved. You may have made it through the first year and beyond, but still need the support of others. Meets Thursdays from 2:00 to 3:30 @ Marian West hospital, 505 E. Men in Grief: Coffee with Frank, a licensed educational psychologist, will facilitate a support group for men only who have experienced a loss of any kind. Meets the first and third Monday of each month, 7:30am to 9:00 am at Café Noir, 1555 S. Broadway, Santa Maria. (Private room). Pre-registration is encouraged, 739-3830.(Feb 6 & 23)

Evening Grief Support Group: meets at Marian Cancer Center, for the loss of a loved one. Meets every Tuesday, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please call 739-3780 for more information.

Newly Bereaved Support Program, for people whose loved one has died in the previous 12 to 15 months, meets every Tuesday at Marian West Hospital, from 3:00 to 4:30pm.Please call Marian Hospice Bereavement Care to register and for more information, 739-3830

Widow/Widower Social Group: meets the 1st and 3rd & sometimes the 5th Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:30pm and is recommended to those who have gone through the first anniversary of the death of their loved one. This group is facilitated by a Hospice Volunteer and  meets in the Physicians dinning room of Marian West hospital. Please call Marian Hospice Bereavement Care for more information 739-3830.

Parents Sharing Sorrow & Hope: Loss of a Child (of any age) Support Group: Meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm @ Church of Christ, 795 E. Foster Road, Santa Maria. Grandparents & Siblings are welcomed. For more information, Contact Lori @ 934-0951

Oasis Senior Center: Bereavement support for all significant loss. Wednesdays, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Orcutt. Please call 937-9750

Loss of an Infant/Child Perinatal Loss: for families who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, newborn death and sudden infant death (SIDS). Humor & Story Telling “Comfort for the Soul”: A program that uses humor, story telling, poetry and cinema as tools to help cope with grief. Meets the 2nd Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 at Marian West, 505 E. Plaza Dr.Group coordinator Jack Hunter and Grief counselor will facilitate. This group may not be appropriate for the newly bereaved. Grief in the Workplace: this program provides education and support for businesses and organizations when an employee has died or a co-worker returns to work after the death of a family member. Please schedule with Bereavement care at Marian Hospice, 739-3830.

In-services for Healthcare Professionals: Professional helpers often experience difficult grief reactions as well as symptoms of burnout. This scheduled in-service can support healthcare professionals who care for those who are dying. The in-service can assist the facility with ways to attend to themselves in a manner that will prevent burnout and honor those they would like to remember. Call Bereavement Care to schedule with a Grief counselor, 739-3830

Lompoc

Bereavement Group of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary: 12 week grief class. Held twice a year. Please call Sue Hammer at 735-3773 for more information.

Anderson Recreation Center – The Newly Bereaved Support Program: provides scheduled Grief classes in 2012, for all significant loss within 12 to 15 months. The classes will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month and will starting Feb. 7. There are six consecutive sessions with in the series; Class times are from 10:30 to 12:00 (noon). The location of the classes are held at 125 W. Walnut, Lompoc, in the “Skyway” room of the Recreation Center. Please call Marian Hospice Bereavement Care to pre- register. 739-3830 ext 1136. These classes are facilitated by a grief professional.

Anderson Recreation Center – “Living with Loss”: a peer to peer support group who has come to terms with their loss and is not disrupted by grief on a daily basis. This group is recommended for those who have had a loss of at least one year. The group provides a social networking of events and luncheons. Please contact Anderson Recreation Center for more information, 875-8100.

Solvang

Atterdag Village of Solvang, 636 Atterdag Road & Marian Hospice will collaborate to provide Bereavement support for all neighboring communities (Los Olivos, Santa Ynez and Buellton). This grief support group will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month, from 1:30 to 3:00pm and will be comprised of grief classes and a support group. Arroyo Grande

Grief Recovery Support Group: held on Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the County Offices, Rm. 107, 1086 Grand Ave., Arroyo Grande. Please call Hospice of SLO at 544-2266 for information.
