Marian Regional Medical Center Holds Historic Community Celebration and Dedication Event for New Hospital
Marian’s new state-of-the-art hospital dedication event draws more than 1,000
SANTA MARIA, CA – (March 7, 2012) – Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), a Dignity Health member of the Central Coast, which also includes French Hospital Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, hosted a Community Celebration and Dedication Event for the new hospital on March 7 at 11 a.m.
The Community Celebration and Dedication Event for the new MRMC included a formal ceremony, open house and tours of the new world-class facility. The event marked the completion of construction and was attended by hundreds including MRMC staff, physicians, nurses, volunteers, business and community leaders, elected officials and the general public.
“Every building has a story. From those who had a vision, to those who built it. Thousands of people have had a role in bringing this magnificent building to life,” remarked Charles J. Cova, President and CEO of Marian Regional Medical Center, during the ceremony. “From the architects, engineers and hundreds of construction workers, to donors, employees, physicians, volunteers and patients, what you see before you today is the result of extraordinary and collaborative efforts. The new Marian Regional Medical Center stands for our promise to provide unparalleled patient care for our Central Coast communities because medicine never stands still and neither will we.”
The new, state-of-the-art, $218 million hospital is 235,000-square-feet (doubling the size of the existing hospital) and features 191 beds. The building’s features include the latest in lifesaving technology, private patient rooms, a 21-bed Newborn ICU, expanded Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit, advanced cardiac care, comprehensive oncology care and superior imaging services. To reflect the facility’s increased capabilities, coupled with the skill and experience of highly trained physicians and clinical staff, Marian Medical Center recently changed its name to Marian Regional Medical Center.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new hospital is the facility’s private patient rooms; offering privacy and clinically shown to enhance the healing process. MRMC’s private patient rooms also feature room-in capabilities for loved ones of patients allowing each and every patient’s stay at Marian to be a more pleasant and comfortable experience.
In order to meet the growing and future needs of the local community the medical center began master planning for the new hospital in 1997 and in October of 2008 MRMC broke ground on the new hospital. The new Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC) is scheduled to open to the public this spring. On opening day all inpatients will be moved from the existing facility to the new hospital and Marian will begin admitting patients into the new hospital.
